Three-speed Elvis

With thanks to Change Your Life, Ride a Bike, I offer this very cool photo.  I can't identify the bike, but I love that one of the all-time coolest chose a 3-speed -- at least on this day.

Funny enough, I was watching an Elvis documentary the other day and there was a cool scene where he and one of the Memphis Mafia hop on a tandem and take a happy spin around the studio lot.

Happy belated birthday, Elvis!

  1. From the headbadge shape I would guess Schwinn. It is also a Sturmey-Archer IGH, probably 3 speed AW.

  2. I think you're right, Aaron. Look at those flat, Schwinn-style forks... I bet it's a Paramount (did those come as three speed?)

  3. I don't think the Paramount ever came in a 3 speed, but they did build some very nice fillet brazed bikes that were 3 speeds. I can't recall the name at the moment.

  4. it seems like that fluted, English-style fender should be a clue.
